Information about Hermosillo, Mexico

Hermosillo Mexico hotels Founded in 1700 to hold the Seri indians back and to protect the hispanic expansion. It’s original name was Santísima Trinidad del Pitic which was given by its founder, the “Alferez Juan Bautista Escalante”.

Hermosillo hasn’t lost its traditional essence as a Mexican province. As the Capital of the State since 1879, it offers the visitor all the comfort of a large city. Hermosillo is characterized by its modern urbanism which blends old buildings with great province taste. Among the historical constructions, the Government Palace outstands. The Asuncion Cathedral, Del Carmen and the Holy Spirit Chapels and the University of Sonora Museum are also representative buildings. La Pintada rupestrian drawings
56 km (34 Miles) south of Hermosillo, there is an interesting archeological site known as “La Pintada”. Rupestrian drawings can be found at this place, for it once was a shelter for Seri and Pima Indians.
CATHEDRAL OF THE ASSUMPTION IN HERMOSILLO
Located on the main Plaza (Plaza Zaragoza) started its construction in 1877 and finished on 1912, with great inner sceneries, neoclassical facade and Caravaca crosses on its towers and dome are a must place to visit.

Cuisine
In Hermosillo, you can try the delicious Chivichangas made with wheat flour tortillas, the best Carne Asada (grilled beef) in Mexico, Costa Brava shrimps, cocido and the famous and delicious coyotas for dessert.
