Diverse activities can take place such as enjoying the beautiful scenery, picture taking, board surfing, or the exciting races of motorcycle and cars specifically built for the sand dunes. And you can also enjoy underwater snorkeling, fishing, surfing, swimming, mountain climbing, etc. To fully enjoy the natural wonders of this place, it’s recommended you bring along camping equipment, camera equipment and a video camera.

Rocky Point beaches
Without a doubt, one of the attractions is the beauty of the beaches. Miles and miles of clean sand, smooth waved waters combined with an approximate temperature of 93°F in the summer and 55°F in the winter, make the place ideal for surfing, windsurfing, skiing, jetskiing, boat rides or just simply walking on the beach and enjoying the seacoast. Rocky Point also has great sand dunes where the 4 wheels and buggies can be used, increasing the excitement for young and old fanatics of this type of vehicles. For the ecological tourist, Rocky Point has reserved a special surprise: "El Pinacate" Biosphere Reserve; a volcanic area considered a natural treasure of North America. It’s impressive and peculiar volcanic hills, huge craters and lava fields, which are very similar to the lunar surface. Pinacate national Park is located at approximately 45 kilometers Northeast from Puerto Peñasco in the cost of Sonora. The Pinacate Reserves Information Center is located just off Highway #8 Km 52, just 32 miles south of Lukeville, Az. Some recommendations
For this tour, it is necessary to be in company of an experienced guide, since the desert should be carefully crossed by already existing trails. Keep in mind that the area is isolated; therefore, it is recommended to take sufficient water along and is suggested to use a double-traction vehicle, as well as to have a supply of basic spare parts, tools and plenty of gas.

Fishing in Rocky Point
Fishing at Rocky Point is one of the main activities. There is and ideal place for fishing in a zone that is towards San Jorge Island, where you can catch very attractive species such as Dorado, sail fish, yellow tail, flounder, red snapper, gulf sierra, grouper, triggerfish and striped marlin.In Rocky Point there is a huge difference of tides up to 20ft. high remitting the sea up to 1 kilometer away, leaving in the sand a huge amount of mollusk and crustaceous, besides the natural attractive, rocky point has an infrastructure that promotes the sports practice, there is a marina with 14 spaces and very good services, located in the inner harbor area where the fishing boats and the shrimp boats are located.

Scuba diving at Rocky Point
Scuba diving in Rocky Point is one of the main activities that the tourists enjoy, due to the warm and good visibility of Rocky Point waters, turning this destiny into a great place to practice this sport. Rocky point is also great for snorkeling and it’s practiced in total safety.
For those who want to explore the sea world, the nearby island of San Jorge is a great spot that offers the opportunity to enjoy the company of sea lions, dolphins and the strange "vaquitas", a species in danger of extinction only found in the High Gulf of California.

The islands of san Jorge
The Islands of San Jorge are a group of rocky islands located outside the Bay of San Jorge, near Puerto Peñasco. Like other islands in the gulf, these are federal zones, and due to their biological importance they were decreed Reserved Areas of shelter for Migratory birds and Wild Fauna in 1978. These islands are of great tourist attraction, mainly for the different species of birds that find shelter here, such as: Tropical birds, marine swallow, very elegant, seagulls and more. Also there are great herds of sea lions, one of the biggest colonies of sea Lions in the Gulf of California.

Around these waters, there are excellent places for water sports and underwater snorkeling, thanks to the great variety of fish found in this area. Also a pleasant experience is to watch the different birds and other animals found in our region, but its recommended not to get to close to the animals so as not to make them fell threatened. Keep in mind to take certain precautions near the sea Lions, due to their aggressive behavior.

Rocky Point for the whole family
CET-MAR Aquariums. This Marine study center welcomes the public to the aquarium viewing areas, where great species can be seen, such: sea turtles, octopus, sea horses, shrimp, numerous fish species, crabs and the creatures from the deep ocean. CEDO (Center for Deserts & Oceans). Located in the Las Conchas Community, Offering free tours (2pm Tuesdays - 4pm Saturdays) & natural history walks. This is a great family oriented educational spot to tour. Highlighted are joint programs with the University of Arizona & Sonora Government, marine studies, desert information, re-cycling programs, library and Book Store-Gift shop.
